Demi Gains Control Again.

Purpose: To entertain, to inform.
Audience: Teenagers, Celebrity Magazine readers.

Demi Lovato , 18, is the most recent celebrity to be effected by the reality of being ‘famous’. Demi has spoken out about cutting, bullying, depression, anorexia and bulimia. It seems the troubled star doesn’t have such a simple life as first looks seem.

Last November, The actress began three months of treatment to address the problem of self-harming and an eating disorder after she punched a dancer while on tour with the Jonas Brothers. At the time she entered herself to rehab for unspecified "emotional and physical issues", and recently revealed that these were the reasons why she checked into the treatment centre. She also discovered that she was bipolar whilst she was in treatment. The troubled teen star admitted to having the disorder to People magazine in a very honest interview:

"I've battled depression from a young age. I never found out until I went into treatment that I am bipolar. At first, I was like, 'What does that even mean?' But looking back, it makes sense... That's why I wasn't happy when everything in my life was great."

Also speaking to people’s magazine about her eating disorder, which was so extreme she started vomiting up blood before she was satisfied with herself, she tells all and doesn’t leave out anything. The Actress/Singer tells the magazine, "When I was about 15, I was only eating two meals a week, but I wasn't losing any more weight because my body adjusted to that. So I tried new things: laxatives, fasts - nothing was working.”

"I decided maybe I should start throwing up. At my worst, I was doing it five times a day. I threw up so hard and so much, it was just blood in the toilet."

In a separate interview with People magazine, Lovato reveals she 'stopped eating' at the age of 12, dropping 30lbs. At 5ft 3in, she weighed 95lbs.

After completing a three-month stint in the mental health facility, Lovato says every day is still a struggle. She told People magazine that ‘she find things more difficult now there’s no one supervising her’ which is why she decided to take time out from work.

Demi is doing her best to fix these problems, the first step she's taking is quitting her TV show 'Sonny With A Chance' so that she'll be able to focus on her music career.

Speaking on the shock exit from the show, she revealed: "It's kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn't be a better time for me to move on. I don't think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery."
